I was very scared, but more than anything I wanted to do it. It was a parachute jump and it was the first time I’d done anything like that in my life. I put on my suit and connected all the buckles together. I was extremely nervous as I got into the plane.
My instructor was sitting next to me; we were going to do a tandem jump together. While we were waiting for the plane to reach the correct altitude, he asked me ‘How do you feel?’ and I said ‘very scared!’ he replied ‘don’t worry’. When the plane got to the right height the pilot shouted ‘Ready!’ and my instructor winked at me. At last it was time to go! We unbuckled our seat belts and made our way to the door. As the door opened I looked down, the ground seemed so far away! He connected us together and we sat with our legs outside the plane. Then, with a feeling of intense excitement, we jumped! At first it was like falling and then the parachute opened and it was like flying. |
